Tree of feathers
Remember when Alice in wonderland found the rabbit hole and fell down it? I had a similar experience in Australia. Picture this. A random field filled with tall grass. There’s a mound of earth covered with this evil-looking thorn bush. Hidden in the tall grass there’s a tunnel-like hole spiraling downwards into this thorn bush mound. You wouldn’t believe what was down there. An enormous tree was suffocating and strangled by this thorn bush. The massiveness of its roots reached upwards towards the sun as its life depended on it. It was so dark down there, so the tree grew in the most unusual way. The fascinating thing was that you couldn’t see this tree from the ground. This evil thorn had claimed it. The tree only had a few leaves but they were strong and living. This painting was inspired from this day, only I created the tree, not as lit appeared but the connection I felt towards it. I gave it beautiful leaves made of magic-looking feathers as if one day such a majestic tree might have its freedom.
