frequently asked questions

FAIRYWRENS.jpg

what can you paint?

I can look at anything and paint it. If you have an image in mind I can come up with something relatable or create a similar replica. If it's Disney characters you like, I can do that too.

Although I do not like to turn down any challenges, there are some areas that I specialize in over others.

Painting portraits or realistic people is not one of my strengths and honestly, my heart isn't in it. I enjoy nature, animals, cartoons, magical whimsical, and very colorful types of work.

Also, I am a huge fan of movies, so painting characters and things of that sort is great.

Halloween, Christmas, horses, trees, flowers, symbolism, all free-spirited animals...

Feel free to check out my current works for a better idea of what am talking about. If you still are unsure, please message me, I am happy to answer questions.

where do you paint?

I'm located in Porter, Maine, and am happy to travel for projects. If I need to travel more than an hour, there is an added fee. So, you art lovers around Conway, New Hampshire, Cornish, and Portland, ME - you're covered.

how does it work?

I really enjoy meeting with people and having a consultation with them to look at the wall surface I'm painting on, discuss their ideas and what exactly is going to be created, and how to incorporate it all, as well as time frame.

Something else to consider is objects being placed in the room or possibly in front of the wall. I try to consider all things possible.

Depending on what is being painted for mural work, I recommend changing the base wall color first. This can help bring out the artwork but is not always necessary.

When it's time to get painting, I start my sketches on the wall with chalk. This usually gives you a good idea of what’s going on the wall. If this looks good to everyone, I paint.

how much will it cost me?

My general rate is $60/hour.

There is a flat $50 fee for paint and materials.

Any extra gallons of paint will be charged as needed. This is only needed when the base wall color needs to be changed. It is not always required but it can help the wall mural really pop in a room!

It is not so easy to give an exact amount because each piece is unique depending on detail, how many characters and overall coverage on the wall.

do you require a deposit?

A $250 non-refundable deposit is required to start.

do you bring your own stuff?

I bring all my own supplies, and I purchase paint best suited for base colors if needed. I always hope for people to have the best experience. I do like to interact with the client to suire their needs as much as possible.

how long does it take?

Most of my murals so far have averaged anywhere from 10- 16 hours. This is based on one, average-sized wall, but will depend on several factors. This is why the consultation will help us both going forward.

can the kids watch you paint?

Yes. Of course.

what about privacy, videos, etc?

I make videos.

As much as I like painting, I love making videos; mainly time-lapses of my work. I just love that start to finish feeling. I also believe this is a great way to show people what I can do and what is possible for their home as well.

I respect everyone's privacy and if it's something you are not comfortable with I simply won't do it. I will always discuss this beforehand anyway.

I do my best to answer questions for people. If there are any questions you have that are not here, please feel free to contact me. :)
