When I was little nightmares filed my sleep. Sometimes they horrifyied me for the next couple of days. My dad has hunted the bear for years and would tell me stories of his experiences. He always took my sister and I hiking and would show us footprints of all the animals. He would show us the tree marks made from deer antlers. One story he told me about stuck with me. My dad was walking through the woods and he saw a rabbit infested with ticks. He was able to catch the rabbit and patiently remove all the ticks, most likely saving the rabbits life. Hearing the story, it showed me the kindness and respect my dad had for animals even though he hunted them. I have gained knowledge and appreciation of nature just from watching my dad. He told me he used to have nightmares too. He said one day they will go away. He gave me a dreamcatcher. He gave me a little less fear before bedtime.
